Katie McKee Mooneesawmy

Katie is the Head of Academic Development at The Glasgow School of Art (GSA), where she leads on the strategic development and enhancement of both undergraduate and postgraduate academic programmes. She is responsible for the development and maintenance of the GSA Academic Framework, which defines the distinctive ethos and structure of GSA’s academic programmes. Working closely with the Deputy Director and Vice-Principal (Academic), she supports the implementation of strategic academic developments in curriculum across GSA, aligned to the Education Strategy. 

In her role, Katie provides strategic leadership for the development of cross-school undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and courses at GSA, ensuring they are inclusively designed and foster creative, sustainable and critical approaches to making through disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and collaborative learning communities. Additionally, she leads the development and implementation of GSA’s Employer Engagement Framework, which includes strategic leadership of the GSA Careers, Employability and Opportunities Service and developments to increase integrated and embedded careers education within programme curricula.

Katie has held several other roles at GSA, including Head of Programme Development, Acting Programme Leader for Communication Design, and Academic Coordinator for GSA Singapore.

Before joining GSA in 2014, Katie worked at the University for Creative Art (UCA), where she held positions, including Senior Lecturer in Fine Art. She led the Fine Art Foundation pathway at the Rochester campus, taught on the undergraduate and master’s programmes in Fine Art, and led the Access to Higher Education programme at the Canterbury campus.

Katie holds a BA (Hons) in Drawing and Painting. She has curated exhibitions and exhibited her work nationally and internationally.
